  • June 3, NYSUT Retiree Council 23 Luncheon — R-UTN member Teddy Emmanuel is to be honored for receiving the NYSUT Community Service Award for her work with Child Abuse Prevention Services, or CAPS.
  • June 14, United Teachers of Northport Retirement Party at the Harbor View.
  • September 10, R-UTN Annual Picnic at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport.

R-UTN Supports our Community

Out of concern for the extra strain on community support resources caused by the current Federal shutdown, the Executive Board voted to make the following $1,000 donations:  in memory of Bill Hall (volunteer) to the Family Services Leagues HIHI program providing shelter and other services to the home less;  Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry and the  Homeless Vets organization.  In addition a donation to support UTN President Stacey Weisberg’s participation in the Purple Project run raising funds for pancreatic cancer – she is running in memory of our late colleague, Linda Goodman. 

RC-23 Holiday Trip to NYC

Retiree Council – 23 is planning a Holiday Trip to New York City on December 13. The visit will include stops a the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a buffet luncheon Pasta Lovers on West 49th, Rockefeller Center, the Sound and Light Show at Saks 5th Avenue and culminating at Bryant Park to view the tree, skaters and holiday kiosks. Free time is planned in the Rockefeller Center area for shopping and a visit to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.
