Sad News

Trudy Brewer, retired Bellerose Avenue teacher, passed away on July 11 at the age of 97. She was a truly amazing person and caring teacher who is fondly remembered by her colleagues and students. She cared for her son, Scotty, born with Downs Syndrome, until she was 90, when she reluctantly placed him in a group home. She continued to live alone in her home until last year. In addition to Scotty, she is survived by her daughters Victoria and Liz.

She is in repose at Brueggermann’s Funeral Home in East Northport. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in East Northport on Wednesday, July 16th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by entombment at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.

R-UTN members who have memories of Trudy they wish to share, can email retirednorthportteachers@gmail.com. Please write Website Memories as the subject, and include your name and former school.
