2016 R-UTN Scholarships

The Retired – United Teachers of Northport Scholarships are supported by the voluntary contributions of our over 450 members. The Scholarship Award is presented to a Northport High School graduate planning to enter the teaching profession. The Memorial Scholarship is given for academic achievement. The 2016 awards were presented at the Senior Awards Ceremony on June 7. The Scholarship Award was presented to Emily Feit and the Academic Achievement Scholarship was presented to Samantha Marill.

Scholarship Award Given for Studies in Education — Emily Feit

Our winner is an extremely dedicated, motivated and enthusiastic young woman. She has earned an impressive 94.12 average, taking high school classes as early as eight grade. Involved in Girl Scouts since kindergarten, she is now working towards her gold award by making a positive contribution to her community. She plans to study Special Education and Psychology with the goal of working with special needs students. Emily will make a phenomenal teacher, and the we are proud she is the recipient of our $2000 scholarship award.

Memorial Scholarship Given for Academic Achievement — Samantha Marill

Our winner is described as an independent thinker and leader. Academically she has chosen some of the more rigorous courses offered at the high school, taking math and science courses beyond those required for graduation. She is a hard working and intelligent young lady with the skills to succeed in any endeavor she chooses. The Retired Teachers of Northport were proud to present her with the $2000 scholarship.
