Upcoming Events of Note

We wanted to let everyone know about some upcoming events that are both educational and pertinent in today’s society AND a chance to have a fun day supporting worthy causes.

  • The LI chapter of New York State Alliance for Retired Americans – NYAARA – is hosting a Environmental Justice Conference on Friday April 22, 2022 at 10:30am. This event is being conducted both in-person at the NYSUT Regional Office in Hauppauge or via ZOOM. For additional information or to register for in person or Zoom visit nysut.cc/nejc422.
  1. Also on the environmental issues, the Long Island Federation of Labor is running a series of workshops. The next presentation in the series is next Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 p.m. at Brickhouse Brewery (67 W Main St, Patchogue, NY 11772) titled “What’s Brewin Offshore?” This event combines happy hour with an educational forum to learn more about the emerging offshore wind industry. Grab a beer on them, some food, and be prepared to play some offshore wind trivia. The first beer is free, but registration is required. Click Here to Register.

Vickie Marini, long time Northport – East Northport substitute teacher, passed away on April 2.

Visitation at Moloney’s Hauppauge Funeral Home, 840 Wheeler Rd., Hauppauge, on Sunday, April 10 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be said at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, April 11, St. Thomas More RC Church, 115 Kings Hwy, Hauppague followed by burial in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
